Meet Brandon Chase McGee

Texas Justice Courts are an important part of Texas history. At their inception, they were created to handle civil cases with small amounts in controversy or disputes between parties. Instead of licensed attorneys, anyone in the community could serve as a justice of the peace, regardless of income, class, or occupation.

Today, the responsibilities of a Justice of the Peace have expanded, but the role has not changed. A JP’s job is to be a faithful executor of the law and a teacher to parties that are often unrepresented by legal counsel. In a bitter dispute between adversarial parties, a JP can stand in the gap, weighing the facts and facilitating compromises.

As a Denton City Councilman, Brandon Chase McGee has demonstrated his ability to bring together Republicans, Independents and Democrats. Brandon has fought to protect the civil liberties of people across the City of Denton and Denton County, passing a nondiscrimination ordinance and voting to protect the decriminalization of marijuana.

a vision for the future

What separates Brandon apart from others is his vision. He understands that we cannot just make decisions for the next few years, but instead make calculated, lasting decisions that will impact the future of Denton County ten and twenty years down the line.

Mr. McGee knows a better Denton County is possible. A county where local government brings everyday, working citizens into the process.
